A good friend referred me to Rebecca several years ago.  I had struggled for years with my taxes, sometimes doing them myself and sometimes going to a tax preparer.  I never really felt comfortable and I also lacked knowledge about my own finances and financial planning.

When I first went to Rebecca, I immediately felt comfortable with her, she took the time to explain things and ask me questions.  Not only did she complete my current tax return but as she was glancing over the previous year, she found a mistake.  Based on what she knew about my situation, she immediately picked up on a red flag and determined a large interest mortgage deduction had not been included.  This resulted in an amended tax return and a large amended tax refund from the previous year.  This was in addition to her work on the current year, where she maximized the deductions allowable to take, which resulted in ongoing large tax refunds.

She has taught me a lot and I have increased my own knowledge and control over my finances, just by pointing out a few tips on record keeping for tax deductions, advice on savings and mutual funds and most importantly her encouraging and gentle prodding to increase my exemptions for withholding in order to cut down the large refund checks.  While I was nervous at first, I have made great strides in this area, since as Rebecca puts it, “the IRS is not a savings plan.”  She helped me recognize and get over my fear that it is to my advantage to have a little more take home pay and invest on my own whether it’s a savings account, mutual funds or retirement accounts then to have it sit with the federal government bearing no interest.

Rebecca is smart and conscientious and takes a personal interest in her clients.  I trust her judgment and recommend her to family, friends and co-workers.
